What are the side effects of Tropicamide 1% Eye Drops 5ml?

Like other medicines, Tropicamide 1% Eye Drops 5ml can cause some side effects. If they do occur, the side effects of Tropicamide are most likely to be minor and temporary. However, some may be serious and may require the individual to inform the doctor or visit the nearest hospital immediately.

It is pertinent to note that side effects of Tropicamide cannot be anticipated. If any side effects of Tropicamide develop or change in intensity, the doctor should be informed as soon as possible.

What is the recommended dosage of Tropicamide?

Wash your hands before applying Tropicamide eye drops. Tilt your head back, pull the lower eyelid to make a pouch and then place 1 or 2 drops of the medicine into this pouch. Apply gentle pressure at the inner corner of the eyes for 2 to 3 minutes so that the medicine is absorbed by the eyes. Wash your hands after using the eye drops.

What if you overdose on Tropicamide?

Any medication used in excess can have serious consequences. If you suspect an overdose of Tropicamide, seek medical attention immediately. Overdose symptoms of Tropicamide may include fast heartbeat, dry mouth, photophobia and unusual drowsiness.

What other drugs could interact with Tropicamide 1% Eye Drops 5ml?

It may be noted that drugs other than those listed above may also interact with Tropicamide.

Tropicamide can interact with the following types of medicines: tricyclic antidepressants, antipsychotics, antihistamines, MAO inhibitors, antispasmodics, antiarrhythmics and other anticholinergics.

Note

Before using Tropicamide, tell your doctor if you have glaucoma, heart disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, Down’s syndrome, spastic paralysis or brain damage (in children).

As Tropicamide eye drops may cause temporary blurred vision, do not drive until you can see clearly. After using the eye drops, your eyes may become more sensitive to light. Use dark sunglasses when you go out.
