What is Loperamide used for?
Loperamide is used to treat diarrhea. Besides traveler’s diarrhea, this drug is also used to treat acute diarrhea associated with irritable bowel syndrome. It works by slowing down the rhythm of digestion, which makes the stool less watery. This medicine is also used to reduce the amount of stool in individuals who have undergone an ileostomy.
